Founder of authentic oyster sauce
Established in 1888, Lee Kum Kee acquire professional experiences in selecting fresh oysters, oyster sauce simmering and flavour formulation. Oyster sauce is a greatly versatile condiment created by coincidence. One day, Lee Kum Sheung, the founder of Lee Kum Kee, was cooking oysters as usual, but he lost track of time and left the oysters to simmer until he smelt a strong aroma. Uncapping the lid of the pot, he was delighted to find the normally clear oyster soup had turned into a thick, brownish sauce with an astonishingly delicious taste. Soon he started selling his newly-invented seasoning which turned out to be a hit with the locals.
Lee Kum Kee was thus founded in 1888. Over the past 130 years, the secret recipe of Lee Kum Sheung’s oyster sauce has been passed down from generation to generation of the Lee family, who hold the key to the authentic heritage of oyster sauce while crafting the most refreshing and delicate flavour for the gourmet world.
Salt reduced but the umami retains
Lee Kum Kee Salt Reduced Oyster Sauce is made from fresh, mature and well-nourished oysters comprised of a wide range of species. Without any preservatives, enhancers, MSG and artificial colour added, it delivers the same great umami flavour while having 25% or above less sodium. Great for marinade, stir-fry and dipping various dishes.
